Michael Bay has absolutely no finesse nor creativity and can’t direct to save himself.. He’s so one dimensional, that he makes the transformers cartoon (G1) look realistic.. His movies show his inability to direct, look at pearl harbour…. everyone knows what happened that day, yet what Michael Bay portrayed was completely the opposite.. I went to the cinema ih the hope to see a war flick with big explosions and dogfights, instead all i see for 2hrs and 45mins was Josh Hartnett going after his god damn love interest.. I didn’t pay 13 bucks to see that.. The Island was just a mistake, it had no plot, the script from what i saw wasn’t finished and sounded like it was still in it’s early stages waiting to be read over and no were near finished.. If it weren’t for Scarlette Johannson and Ewan McGregor, it would have been yet another B-grade movie directed by an inferior and inexperienced director.. Im sorry Michael Bay, but this needs to be said, you suck.. I will say this though, two thumbs up for your ability to get awesome actors to play the roles, because without them, your movies wouldn’t be much to look at.. We all know that you like big explosions and lots of them, but as a “supposed” director, you should know that big explosions don’t make a movie, good directing does.. Look at Bad Boys 1 & 2, all they were, were nothing but big explosions, driving exotic cars and lots of running.. No story, no plot, no originality.. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence made that movie what it is today, their comedy antics were awesome, that’s what kept in the cinemas till the end credits.. Now, i have read empire magazine, saw all the interviews on ET and other TV shows, where Michael Bay says that he’s thick skinned (regarding all the death threats), but Michael…… Why do you live a lie..?? Why swim in “denial”..?? Wouldn’t it be easier to just admit that you suck as a movie director, and should leave movie directing / producing to the professionals who actually have “credibility”..?? Michael…… Your nothing more then a “paper” fan, who just jumped on the TF bandwagon to cash in on the TF brand name..

Now lets get down to business with regards to this movie.. The only good thing coming from this movie is that babe megan fox.. Rumble?? That’s if that was indeed rumble that was hacking the planet from air force one..?? When was rumble a radio?? He looked like number 5 on crack.. That thing in the desert, was that meant to be one of the insecticons?? Because that looked nothing like an insecticon, it looked more like something my little brother built from his meccano set he got for christmas.. Devestator (the tank), wasn’t he made up of 6 contructacons?? So where were they?? Did they disintigrate when their meteor hit the earth or what?? Or did they get left behind on cybertron to get devoured by unicron??

And the transformers themselves, despite their size, could bay have made them anymore lighter?? I thought they were meant to be heavier?? Could Bay make the Autobots anymore weaker..?? For something that size and for something that had that much alien metals etc…. they fell down so easily as with the battle between megatron and optimus prime towards the end of the movie.. One punch and Opimus is in agony..?? I think not.. And how unrealistic is this, the humans took down a decepticon with 3 rockets to his ass..?? In the real world, if such robots actually did exist somewhere in our vast universe, do you honestly believe 3 rockets would take down something that size.. Jeezus, look at godzilla, he’s a god damn puppet, a person in a costume, look how much fire power they used, and it still walked, yet 3 rockets up a decepticons ass, and he explodes..?? If it were that easy, why do we need the Autobots to protect us..?? Another grip i have with bays “interpretation” of the transformers, when did bumblebee become the center of attention..?? Why does he steal all the limelight from Optimus..?? I thought Optimus was the leader..?? And what is up with the “my bad” remark..?? If that’s Primes attempt at humour, then he sadly failed.. I remember him as a serious kinda character who believed in whats right not one who developed a sense of humour..

The trasnformers faces…?? One of the soldiers or generals at the start of the movie summned it up quite well, they look japanese, and i agree with that comment.. Because when did transformer faces resemble something from the manga ‘guyver’ or ‘gundam’..?? Bay used all this CG technology at his disposal and the best he could do is rip off japanese manga, because he had no clue on what a real transformer looked like.. And what the hell is up with the lips, jeezus, bay just made the transformers gay.. I mean i liked the whole facial movements, but lips?? As a parting note, there are rumours that soundwave will be in the next TF movie, but what will he be..?? An Ipod perhaps, it certainly looks that way….. because he can’t be a boom box can he..?? Rumble took that honor, and soundwave can’t exactly press a button and 4 cassettes pop out, because rumble and frenzy weren’t cassettes, so the only logical thing to do is change soundwave to something totally different.. And Michael Bay will have no hesitation in doing that, because he’s become well versed in f**king up peoples childhoods etc..

In terms of value for money.. 2/10
In terms of eye candy.. 10/10 (refering to megan fox… what a babe) In terms of keeping it real and true to TF - G1.. 0/10

In terms of action.. 7/10 (and im being awfully generous here)

Overall it just sucked..!!

The old G1 universe had potential to be mature, believable, logical and yet for some aunfathomable reason, it is altered?!! WHY? saying it is for “realistic” purposes does not seem to have anough of a valid point? I mean there was real material that could have been expanded on or explain and yet.. why change it when a lot of it was seemingly logical???

I throw down the gauntlet and invite any person who can tell me why who is was part of this movie. I will not insult them. I just want to have the honor as a fan to pick their brans out and know why a closer cpompromise was not met and locial reasons as to why a closer compromise was not met?

How close? I mean characterization, perhaps at least the aestitics or why don’t autobots use use group tactics like they always do in the cartoons? It was a logical answer to defeat a stronger force.. and always tipped it in the autobot’s favour.

And then there is the whole “mass shifting” debate on every forum including this one, where people try to say that “mass shifting” (alas Megatron turning into a gun from a robot his size) was stupid and whatnot, but if thats the case, then what would you call frenzies “mass shifting” sequence where he turned into a cell phone..?? Having said that though, the way they transformed in the mnvie, wasn’t really transformation as such, it’s more “morphing” then anything else..

Michael Bay is just a talentless hack who’s greatest achievement is ripping off ideas from other movies.. Alas, Bumblebee beaming the autobot symbol into the night sky, wasn’t that from another movie back in the early 90’s called Batman..?? And what about Sector 7, the way they behaved with such cheesy lines like;

I see more beast wars in it that I do G1 I mean look at Iron hide,Ratchet and Megatron. I see a little optimus primal and (BW)Megatorn in their faces, Voice portrayals and mannerisism. (Organic with BIG nostrils, and “smelling”??)

I thought this was based on G1? I mean even the name “all spark” had no mention in the G1 cartoon. (okay beast wars was set before G1 but that is beside the point)

Chill the fuck out, you are becoming tedious. To be a real fan according to your principles someone would have to watch G1 episodes 24 hours a day and believe that every line ever written for that cartoon is ‘the word of god’.

He clearly messed it up big, i mean megatron was never a spaceship G1 nor was he a ship of any kind in any of the spin-offs from memory other then Machine Wars where he was an F-22.. If Michael Bay based this live action on spin-offs where “certain” transformers got a new look etc… then the witwicky name should not have been part of the plot to begin with, because they are only in G1 and the animated movie nothing else.. That’s what i mean when i say that i get frustrated with some members who were never real fans to begin with, yet think that they know everything there is to know about transformers..

Anyway if i have somehow insulted anyone personally, i do apologize, but that was never my intention.. I’m just very passionate about G1 and i hate the way they have been meesed up and “interpreted” over the years following G1 and the animated movie..

When someone is considered less of a fan just because they love the movie it offends my sense of purpose in the site. Whether someone started to be a fan 20 years ago or yesterday, a fan is a fan. Someone like yourself has a lot to offer a new fan. Your passion for the subject is obvious.
