awesome, can’t wait to see it!

Last I checked it was a PG-13 movie, so perhaps taking particularly small kids to it wasn’t the best move. Anyhow, people project what they will onto any film/TV show they watch, so this problem with “common language,” is something that I guess some have a problem with and others don’t.

The only thing I can agree on is the issue with the Constructicons and how multiple robots had the same vehicle form, but they were cast as being the ones who formed Devastator. Alas, the gripe I had with the first movie exists again in the sequel.
I’m not sure I understand your analysis of the Fallen having too small a role. Darth Sidious had two fight scenes in Episode III, which is the first movie that comes to mind as a comparison, and from what I can remember, that movie may have been shorter, so the fight scenes themselves gave the Fallen more screen time.
Honestly I don’t know what to make of the “minority crowd” point you’re going for. I wouldn’t call it so much of a race/ethnicity-based issue, it’s more of the target age group. Perhaps I can agree with you (at least partially) that the idea of “class” in terms of just person-to-person speech has gone completely down the drain. I don’t know what country you might be from, but in the US, the way the twins talked in this movie is the same crap you hear from kids all over the place, from teh mall to school and everywhere in between. Incidentally, that’s what pissed me off about the whole “racism/racist” tirade that seems to have subsided since Wednesday. All you have to do is (a) go to the mall, (b) go to a school lunch cafeteria, or (c) watch MTV (gag) and you’ll see it’s not about race, it’s about what’s perceived as normal, or even ‘cool,’ i.e., to sound like a ‘tard.

First of all, I won’t argue with the mistakes involving Devastator/the Constructicons being in two places at once. However, I feel it’s more about being lazy in coming up with ideas for multiple robots for the final fight than the crew simply forgetting what the robots were doing. The same goes for Blackout and Bonecrusher; I get the sense that they couldn’t decide on what vehicles to use for those particular roles in the film (getting Sam & Co. to the factory) and just used the old one. I don’t think it’d be a stretch to consider that multiple robots use the same form; even G1 was action-packed full of twins/triplets, so it doesn’t bother me that much, but it is annoying. But again, somehow Straw Man didn’t make it to that page in the dictionary where “premise” is found, and just inserts his own definition. Changing the vehicles of the robots does not make anything that follows ‘illogical,’ or even untrue. Hell, by most accounts the new movies are an original story, so even considering the characters are more or less ‘borrowed’ from the original, nothing that goes on makes what happened before ‘illogical.’
I’m starting to think you have serious mental problems, Straw Man. Nothing about the story was ‘confusing.’ Once again, you’ve inserted your own definition of a word in place of what it actually means; simply because the story is different than anything you’ve read, or most importantly, that you merely don’t like the story doesn’t mean it’s confusing. Maybe if I was so delusional it would be confusing too.
Sorry Straw Man, I didn’t know you were related to Beethoven. Aren’t Stan Bush and Vince Di Cola his great-great-great grandchildren? Jesus, those two are ONLY known for their score/songs from the original movie, and watching it now is tough because it’s so dated. Comparing Linkin Park to Stan Bush is like comparing apples to astronauts. Besides, most of us who saw that movie when we were younger have our own preconceived notions and emotions associated with the songs from the movie. Saying the music now “has no soul” is just an arbitrary, empty statement that means it doesn’t sound like a corny 80s song you heard 20 years ago.
Having the military drag around a trailer (or having Optimus pull it) is the most ILLOGICAL thing I’ve ever heard. They already use jumbo jets to transport their smaller weapons – what the hell would be the point of having a soldier (Optimus) pull it around constantly, when he’s expected to transform and fight at any given moment. Not to mention that he’s constantly moving, so is he supposed to continuously drop it and pick it back up? That’s fucking retarded.
“Skrall,” huh? Well, that’s neat. Aside from the color (the toys are both orange and green), I honestly don’t see the big deal. NEWS FLASH, Straw Man – aliens kind of look alike. The fact that one has a large head and is the same color doesn’t mean they were ‘copied.’ Fallen looks more like a cross between an Egyptian pharaoh and an alien. Just because most stereotypical extra-terrestrials have similar features doesn’t mean it was ‘copied.’ But for kicks, let’s go through how G1 ‘copied’ a great deal of their characters from various random toys and inserted them into the story, including Jetfire, Omega Supreme and the three Decepticons that formed into a (useless) camera. Even if the design was ‘copied,’ you’re pretty selective about who’s in the wrong for ‘copying’ another’s design.
Straw Man is officially crazy. “Bay’s decisions have ultimately ‘altered’ the TF universe whether you like it or not.” Um, no. Someone else can just write another story. Or you could just watch the (gasp) DVDs that will not be magically altered based on Bay’s new movie. Total shock for you, I’m sure. I heard someone else say that after they saw the new Star Trek movie, and that was equally stupid. The old stories still exist, dumbass! No one can say they didn’t happen! You can still watch them! Hey, maybe if you had any talent, you can write your own Transformers story and submit it to a comic publisher and they’ll let you start up your own Transformers universe! That’s how all these spin-offs came to be, what the hell is the difference? Oh I know, no one else is a complete crybaby.
Well, I’ve reached the point where it’s literally a waste of time trying to fill up meaningless paragraphs with explanations that are so simple a fucking baby would understand. So I made a list:
1. Mudflap is BURNT ORANGE, Demolisher were only half-red (kind of like Optimus is both red AND blue) and Rampage was, again, a RED-ORANGE, you color-blind ingrate.
2. I never argued that Arcee was a ‘better hunter,’ I just typed what it says on her profile you moron.
3. Robots, like Iron Hide, can detect chemicals using olfactory sensors. That’s how Ratchet was able to detect pheromones from Sam in the first movie. Dipshit.
4. They didn’t need the base uncovered the top was the important part, and besides, the pyramid was at least 5 times the size of Devastator, dumbass.
5. I’ve read posts of yours on older pages from this forum, as far back as 2007, which I re-posted in an attempt to save YOU some effort, so (a) I don’t need anybody’s help, and (b) you’re a dumbass.
6. When ‘we’ add the NOS, the cooler, etc., did we just make it into a speed boat? NO, you unbelievably incompetent douche. IT’S STILL A FUCKING CAR!!!

1. Why does this movie have to take place in the timeline of G1? Whatever happened to the idea that a rendition can stand alone, and be apart from the original? Goddamn, how one-dimensional are you, Straw Man?
2. I never claimed that Arcee was one thing or another. I merely reiterated what her profile addressed, which came from the back of her toy packaging ala 2007/2008. I’ve never “argued” she was or wasn’t anything. I don’t understand why this keeps coming up, but since you haven’t made much sense with a majority of your arguments, this isn’t out of the ordinary.
3. Here’s the difference between Optimus and Demolishor and Rampage. Demolishor was only shown in a split second in his hydraulic shovel form. The rest of the time he was in robot mode. The same photography issue with red doesn’t apply to something that isn’t going to be on-screen. The same applies to Rampage, who was seen as a bulldozer maybe once, when he released Sam’s parents as bait, and then it was entirely in robot mode.
4. If Devastator is smaller than the pyramid, what is the problem that he uses grappling hooks (essentially) to help pull him up? It doesn’t matter how he stands or walks, if the pyramids are taller and bigger, why is using parts of his individual parts in a practical way so difficult to comprehend? “Insecurity”? What the hell are you talking about?
5. No one said anything about them breathing. A robot who can sense chemicals in the air, which manifest themselves to humans as smells, isn’t magic, its robots relating to humans what they know in a way that humans can understand. Again, “insecurity”? Should I send you a dictionary? It sounds to me like someone has trouble relating to normal humans as opposed to alien robots.
6. “Technically, yes, but it’s a different car.” It’s still a car! Beast Wars? Beast Machines? They all added to an already established story! Technically, they “altered” that same story, but you apparently have rationalized your way out of that logical pretzel by ignoring simple facts. The DeLorean in Back to the Future was an altered car, but it was still a car (that could travel through time). Congratulations, you’re a moron.
7. Classic Rick James-Chappelle’s Show moment. “I wouldn’t just go over to somebody’s house and ruin their furniture, I got more sense than that. Yeah, I remember going to Eddie Murphy’s house and ruining his couch…” Here we go: I never compared Bush/DiCola to Linking Park. I compared the noise (music) in Bayformers to the original film’s music. Again, are you retarded? I know what is or isn’t music, and both Linkin Park and Bush/DiCola are musicians who make and record music.
8. I CAN TYPE IN ALL CAPS TOO! I’M SO AWESOME! Um, if the animated movie had 80’s songs that I liked in it, yes, I would still call it dated. Why, you ask? How about, BECAUSE IT’S FROM THE FUCKING 80’S YOU DUMBASS! GOD, I LOVE CAPS!
9. Hey Straw Man! There’s a difference between something being ‘dated’ and it not being ‘dated.’ It’s about whether or not something can stand up after multiple listenings/viewings after years, even decades. The only one out of that group of musicians that stands up is Michael Jackson, which is a testament to the musical genius that he was (albeit a crazy one). Bruce hasn’t made a good record outside of “Born in the USA,” (and I lived in New Jersey), and his new album is garbage; Def Leppard had one solid hit, and Bon Jovi had a few, but they lose their edge after about a minute and half. Throwing out three exceptional movies from a few decades back doesn’t change the idea that something is dated. Platoon stands up because of its historical relevancy; Star Wars was a cultural and movie-making milestone; and Blade Runner was incredibly unique for its dark storytelling and effects. Yet another word that you do not understand.
10. I’m comparing the Fallen to a pharaoh because the ribbing and head ‘gear’ resemble the dressings of the ancient pharaohs, which the movies implies was the inspiration behind the pharaoh being a ‘living god,’ i.e., like the Fallen and his god-like powers. I ask again, are you retarded?

Sticking to your ‘Transformers-Only’ theme, let’s briefly discuss GI Joe. While the movie was enjoyable, Sommers literally invented connections between Duke, Baroness and Cobra Commander which not only cheapened them, but also ruined Duke’s relationship with Scarlet. It didn’t kill the movie for me, and I don’t care so much about the mythos being altered, but I thought it was corny and lame. I’m confused how one movie takes several of the main characters, alters their story COMPLETELY, and you are willing to give Sommers more credit than what Bay did?
Does anybody else see the inconsistency here?!?! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!!!!

Ooh, here it comes. I liked the movie, thus I’m automatically “sticking up for” Bay and his crew. I don’t even know what the last half of that sentence is supposed to mean because the grammar is so goddamn awful. Straw Man, get off this hook about Arcee and whether or not she’s a hunter. WTF….!! Was michael bay on drugs when he made this movie or what?? When did bumblebee become a mustang?? If i remember correctly from the original cartoon, he was a VW.. So when did the morph happen?? If michael bay couldn’t get the rights from VW, then he should have left him out of the movie not change him just to suite him and make money for the corporate doushbags who funded this pathetic live action movie.. Im just pissed off at the fact that he changed all the characters to something totally different.. Im not Bay bashing, it’s just why change them..?? Why?? Fair enough, he wanted it to look like a movie not a cartoon, but to change them?? I ask the question again.. Why?? They are my only gripes, nothing more.. And i have seen the trailers, and im pretty disappointed.. I mean im not old fashioned, but i grew up with the transformers, i know how they look like etc.. So i like them the way they were back in G1, not the way Michael Bay depicts them in this movie.. If he left them in the original G1 forms, and added CGI to make them more beleivable then this movie would be awesome.. To me this movie isn’t transformers, i’d rather watch the animated series of gobots or mighty machine men..

Yeah, true optimus is still a truck, but he’s not the 1982 class kenworth, is he?? Yeah the paint job looks good, but loose the flames.. I mean if they seriously wanted optimus to look fully sick, they should have put him in movies like tokyo drift, where he wouldn’t feel out of place.. I’m taking back everything positive ive said about michael bay and steven speilberg.. He is nothing more then ‘paper’ fan and a ‘paper’ director.. He has never seen an episode of the transformers otherwise he would not have got it so f**king wrong..!! I mean were are the rest of the transformers?? Wheeljack, Mirage, hound, Thundercracker, Soundwave etc…?? Michael Bay had all this technology at his disposal and all he could come with is 13 transformers..?? 13 god damn transformers, for me watching this movie was torture.. It was insulting having to watch 2hrs and 20mins of crap.. It’s worse then the water droplets torture method.. This movie is the Epitome of bullsh!t, and brought new meaning to the word crap.. Because Bay is nothing but a fraud.. He’s more fake then a breast implant..
Michael Bay has absolutely no finesse nor creativity and can’t direct to save himself.. He’s so one dimensional, that he makes the transformers cartoon (G1) look realistic.. His movies show his inability to direct, look at pearl harbour…. everyone knows what happened that day, yet what Michael Bay portrayed was completely the opposite.. I went to the cinema ih the hope to see a war flick with big explosions and dogfights, instead all i see for 2hrs and 45mins was Josh Hartnett going after his god damn love interest.. I didn’t pay 13 bucks to see that.. The Island was just a mistake, it had no plot, the script from what i saw wasn’t finished and sounded like it was still in it’s early stages waiting to be read over and no were near finished.. If it weren’t for Scarlette Johannson and Ewan McGregor, it would have been yet another B-grade movie directed by an inferior and inexperienced director.. Im sorry Michael Bay, but this needs to be said, you suck.. I will say this though, two thumbs up for your ability to get awesome actors to play the roles, because without them, your movies wouldn’t be much to look at.. We all know that you like big explosions and lots of them, but as a “supposed” director, you should know that big explosions don’t make a movie, good directing does.. Look at Bad Boys 1 & 2, all they were, were nothing but big explosions, driving exotic cars and lots of running.. No story, no plot, no originality.. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence made that movie what it is today, their comedy antics were awesome, that’s what kept in the cinemas till the end credits.. Now, i have read empire magazine, saw all the interviews on ET and other TV shows, where Michael Bay says that he’s thick skinned (regarding all the death threats), but Michael…… Why do you live a lie..?? Why swim in “denial”..?? Wouldn’t it be easier to just admit that you suck as a movie director, and should leave movie directing / producing to the professionals who actually have “credibility”..?? Now lets get down to business with regards to this movie.. The only good thing coming from this movie is that babe megan fox.. Rumble?? That’s if that was indeed rumble that was hacking the planet from air force one..?? When was rumble a radio?? He looked like number 5 on crack.. That thing in the desert, was that meant to be one of the insecticons?? Because that looked nothing like an insecticon, it looked more like something my little brother built from his meccano set he got for christmas.. Devestator (the tank), wasn’t he made up of 6 contructacons?? So where were they?? Did they disintigrate when their meteor hit the earth or what?? Or did they get left behind on cybertron to get devoured by unicron??
And the transformers themselves, despite their size, could bay have made them anymore lighter?? I thought they were meant to be heavier?? Could Bay make the Autobots anymore weaker..?? For something that size and for something that had that much alien metals etc…. they fell down so easily as with the battle between megatron and optimus prime towards the end of the movie.. One punch and Opimus is in agony..?? I think not.. And how unrealistic is this, the humans took down a decepticon with 3 rockets to his ass..?? In the real world, if such robots actually did exist somewhere in our vast universe, do you honestly believe 3 rockets would take down something that size.. Jeezus, look at godzilla, he’s a god damn puppet, a person in a costume, look how much fire power they used, and it still walked, yet 3 rockets up a decepticons ass, and he explodes..?? If it were that easy, why do we need the Autobots to protect us..?? Another grip i have with bays “interpretation” of the transformers, when did bumblebee become the center of attention..?? Why does he steal all the limelight from Optimus..?? I thought Optimus was the leader..?? And what is up with the “my bad” remark..?? If that’s Primes attempt at humour, then he sadly failed.. I remember him as a serious kinda character who believed in whats right not one who developed a sense of humour..
The trasnformers faces…?? One of the soldiers or generals at the start of the movie summned it up quite well, they look japanese, and i agree with that comment.. Because when did transformer faces resemble something from the manga ‘guyver’ or ‘gundam’..?? Bay used all this CG technology at his disposal and the best he could do is rip off japanese manga, because he had no clue on what a real transformer looked like.. And what the hell is up with the lips, jeezus, bay just made the transformers gay.. I mean i liked the whole facial movements, but lips?? As a parting note, there are rumours that soundwave will be in the next TF movie, but what will he be..?? An Ipod perhaps, it certainly looks that way….. because he can’t be a boom box can he..?? Rumble took that honor, and soundwave can’t exactly press a button and 4 cassettes pop out, because rumble and frenzy weren’t cassettes, so the only logical thing to do is change soundwave to something totally different.. And Michael Bay will have no hesitation in doing that, because he’s become well versed in f**king up peoples childhoods etc..
In terms of value for money.. 2/10
In terms of eye candy.. 10/10 (refering to megan fox… what a babe) In terms of keeping it real and true to TF – G1.. 0/10
In terms of action.. 7/10 (and im being awfully generous here)
Overall it just sucked..!!

He not only messed up the transformers themselves but he also screwed up some of the names.. Like barracade for example, was he the replacement for prawl from G1..?? Devestator, was the whole tank thing a replacement for Devestator that was formed by the constructucons..?? At least with bumblebee he got one thing right, he was yellow to an extent, with the inclusion of the those god damn black racing stripes… Whats the deal with those..?? At least to keep some originality with bumblebee, why couldn’t Michael Bay get Dan Gilvezan to do the voice for Bumblebee..?? Why not get Frank Welker to reprise his role as the voice for megatron regardless of how demented and totally f**ked up he looked.. For $147 million dollars, he could have bought some of that original G1 feel to the already messed up movie..
And then there is the whole “mass shifting” debate on every forum including this one, where people try to say that “mass shifting” (alas Megatron turning into a gun from a robot his size) was stupid and whatnot, but if thats the case, then what would you call frenzies “mass shifting” sequence where he turned into a cell phone..?? Having said that though, the way they transformed in the mnvie, wasn’t really transformation as such, it’s more “morphing” then anything else..
Michael Bay is just a talentless hack who’s greatest achievement is ripping off ideas from other movies.. Alas, Bumblebee beaming the autobot symbol into the night sky, wasn’t that from another movie back in the early 90’s called Batman..?? And what about Sector 7, the way they behaved with such cheesy lines like;

I don’t consider myself the only fan, Shawn.. I’ve been to alot of sites that have these noobs who just jumped on the bad wagon (so to speak) on the basis that a live action version is coming out.. And to the people that have already seen it, think that it’s awesome.. And speaking of insults, I’ve never “directly” or “indirectly” insulted anyone.. Have i ever called you a ‘fuckhead’ / ‘dickhead’ / a ‘TOOL’ etc… I can’t recall calling you any of those, nor have i called anyone else on this forum those names…. have i..?? I respect your opinion and others, despite not agreeing with some, especially on the topic of Beast wars, energon, cybertron etc… as i think that they were just pointless spin-offs.. I just get really frustrated that there are people who have seen this movie and a few episodes of the various spin-offs and G1 and they think they know everything.. Look at Michael Bay… He said himself that he was never a fan of TF, and that’s clearly obvious from his “interpretation”..
He clearly messed it up big, i mean megatron was never a spaceship G1 nor was he a ship of any kind in any of the spin-offs from memory other then Machine Wars where he was an F-22.. If Michael Bay based this live action on spin-offs where “certain” transformers got a new look etc… then the witwicky name should not have been part of the plot to begin with, because they are only in G1 and the animated movie nothing else.. That’s what i mean when i say that i get frustrated with some members who were never real fans to begin with, yet think that they know everything there is to know about transformers..
Anyway if i have somehow insulted anyone personally, i do apologize, but that was never my intention.. I’m just very passionate about G1 and i hate the way they have been meesed up and “interpreted” over the years following G1 and the animated movie..

With the millions of dollars spent on this movie the best they could do is 10 transformers?? 10 god damn transformers, for someone like me that had to endure 2hrs and 20mins of torture, they could have at least put in more transformers to get my monies worth, regardless of how f**ked up they would have looked.. What a load of sh!t this movie was.. All of bays movies are nothing but flops..!! The reason why his movies broke box office records is not because of his directing ability nor script, but because of the big name actors that played the roles.. Because Bay is nothing but a fraud.. He’s more fake then a breast implant.. For example….
Bad boys 1 & 2…: If it weren’t for will smith, martin lawrence and tia leone, that movie would have sucked.. Yeah, it had big explosions, but you gotta understand that big explosions don’t make up a movie.. Both movies were identical, same story, same everything, except for more explosions
Armageddon….: If it weren’t for bruce willis, billy bob thorton, liv tyler, owen wilson, ben affleck… this movie would have been so unoriginal and unrealistic that id rather see a meteor hit earth.. Oh, lets just take an advanced spaceship and land on a meteor headed for earth..?? Lets just take a ‘moon patrol’ vehicle rip off and take it for a joy ride.. What a load of sh!t..
The island….: This is just an excusable lack of judgement on bays behalf, because i think that the drugs were wearing off and he couldn’t think straight.. This movie sucked full stop, despite scarlette johannsen and ewan mcgregor trying so desperatly to make this movie look good.. And what’s with those white tops at the end of the movie, they looked nothing then tick tacks trying to find that empty container where they came from..
Now lets get down to business with regards to this movie.. The only good thing coming from this movie is that babe megan fox.. Rumble?? That’s if that was indeed rumble that was hacking the mainframe on air force one, you are sh!ting me!! When was rumble a radio?? He looked like number 5 (short circuit fame)on crack, because even when he transformed to his robot form, he had no parts on him that looked like a boom box.. Frenzy, was a cassette as far as i know, so why is he part of a god damn car..?? And what the f**k is an ‘all spark’..?? The energon cube is meant to be a light pinkish coloured cube full of energy, not something resembling a god damn rubics cube.. Also that thing in the desert, was that meant to be one of the insecticons (to be more precise… scorpnok)..?? Because that looked nothing like an insecticon, it looked more like something my little brother built from his meccano set he got for christmas.. Devestator (the tank), correct me if im wrong. but wasn’t he made up of 6 contructacons?? So where are they?? Did they disintigrate when their meteor hit the earth or what?? Or did they get left behind on cybertron to get devoured by unicron??
There are talks about soundwave making an appearance in future sequels.. But bays adaptation of frenzy and rumble just f**ked that idea up.. Bay can’t just back paddle and change frenzy and rumble to resemble casettes, because that would bring me to the point, why couldn’t Bay make rumble and frenzy casettes to begin with..?? And the transformers themselves, despite their size, could bay have made them anymore lighter?? I thought they were meant to be heavier?? Not to mention, how f**king weak are they.. I would love to see a gobot or a mighty machine man taking them on, they’d have a field day with the transformers.. For something that size and for something that had that much metal, titanium and other alien material, they fell down so easily as with the battle between megatron and optimus prime towards the end of the movie.. That was a big disappointment, because obviously Bay never went to school, otherwise he would have known something about science and physics etc…!
The transformers faces…?? One of the soldiers or generals at the start of the movie summned it up quite well, they look japanese, and i agree with that comment.. Because when did transformer faces resemble something from the manga ‘guyver’ or ‘gundam’..?? Bay used all this CG technology at his disposal and the best he could do is rip off japanese manga, because he had no clue on what a real transformer looked like.. And what the hell is up with the lips, jeezus, bay just made the transformers gay.. I mean i liked the whole facial movements, but lips?? Bay can say all he wants to the media, CNN, NBC, entertainment tonight etc… that he has think skin (regarding all the death threats he got), but the bottom line is this, he is nothing more then a ‘paper’ fan who has no clues about the transformers universe and indeed directing.. He is a fraud, and shouldn’t be allowed to direct.. I mean intergalactic robots who are superior to anything on earth, had ebay and internet as their only means of obtaining information and intelligence.. Im gonna watch the movie a second time, just so i can laugh at it again..

Have you seen the movie..?? Hasbro has the rights to the new line of tranaformers toys, they can’t even make them right.. Plastic, hmmmm..?? Last time i checked, the 80’s toys were made of metal… and didn’t break.. Takara don’t have the rights for the transformers brand, because of Michael Bays “interpretation” of the transformers, Hasbro just jumped on the band wagon and reep in the rewards, because afterall, it’s easy money.. Im sure everyone has heard of the transformers at one point in their lives, which is why Hasbro is cashing in, big time.. Wheeljack, Cliffjumper would be great to see, same with mirage, hound, blaster, inferno, metroplex.. I would love to see omega supreme in all it’s glory…. But the way Michael Bay “interpreted” the first movie, it’ll ber nothing but disappointment across the board.. Where do i begin… Michael Bay had $147 million dollar budget at his disposal to make the transformers, so where did the money go..?? I’m pretty sure that it didn’t go to the CGI effects, otherwise the transformers would have in fact been a half descent movie with characters that we the “TRUE” TF fans know and love.. I know that it has been well argued and debated that Michael Bay and his movie sucks in a big way… If certain people in our society, otherwise known as the “paper” fans, don’t know what all the fuss and bitching is about, watch the movie..!!
Having said that and having seen the movie for a second time as part of a work function… Seriously, where did the $147 million dollars go..?? Sector 7..?? Hmm.?? That looks, smells, sounds and feels strangely familiar to that of M.I.B (with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones), I wonder if Barry Sonnenfeld (the director of MIB) has seen the movie and wonder what he has to say about it..?? You would think that $147 million dollars would bring a more “original” concept to the theaters / cinemas, rather the nyet another hollywood rip-off.. Another issue i have with this movie, is the Gotham City batman “beaming signal into the sky” rip-off, where bubmlebee beams the autobot symbol into the night sky.. If i wanted to watch batman again, I’d go to blockbuster video and hire it for $2 for a week, rather then spending $15 to watch it again disguised as a different movie.. I wonder what Tim Burton (batman’s director) has to say about it..??

This movie is nothing more then a 2hr and 20min advertisement campaign for moutain dew (when the mountain dew vending machine transformed towards the very end of the movie), nokia (when frenzy morphed or mass shifted into a shitty little nokia phone) and GMC.. Michael Bay had a deal with GMC, where i believe that GMC will give Bay GMC cars he can use in his movie in exchange for “promoting” and “marketing” GMC to the world.. So if he got the cars for near on nothing, where did the rest of the $147million dollars go..?? I wonder..??
And what about the slap on the face scenario at the start of the movie where Sam was looking for his first car and the “new” bumblebee slammed his door on his old self (the VW that just so happened to be next to his new self), I don’t even want to point out the irony here.. Michael Bay said in various media releases etc…. that he couldn’t get the rights from VW to make bumblebee a yellow heribe, yet in the movie, heavens behold there he is herbie in all its glory.. So Michael Bay is not only an inferior director he’s also an inferior lier, because he just shot himself in the foot by making comments like that.. You need not be einstein to figure out that if you can’t get rights for certain products or brand names, you are not meant to put them in movies etc… without prior written or verbel consent from their respective companies… so why is herbie in the movie..??
The other thing i’d like to know is this, why does Optimus Prime have two different transformations in the movie..?? Look closely and you’ll understand what i mean..??

I don’t want to repeat myself as a result of previous posts, because if i do go into detail of what i think of Michael Bay (on top of what has already been said about him) I will be simply pointing out the obvious.. Now, Michael Bay has been saying in publications such as EMPIRE MAGAZINE and various Australian newspapers that he couldn’t get the rights for VW, yet, ironically what was next to the new Bumblebee..?? Yup, the old Bumblebee in all its glory.. What a “direct” slap in the face for fans and indeed Bumblebee himself.. So really, when you look at it that way Michael Bay wanted to fuck up transformers from the outset, and that the whole “I couldn’t get the rights from VW” bullshit, was just that bullshit.. It was nothing more then a smokescreen for what was to come.. Same goes for Jazz… I don’t believe Michael Bay had any disagreements with Porsche, so why did Jazz become a Pontiac, and on top of that, he was much smaller then Bumblebee.. But in the G1 cartoon, it was the opposite where Jazz was taller then Bumblebee.. Anyway (got of the topic for a moment there), in the movie however, what dealership did Sam and his Dad drive through on the way to buying his first car..?? Yup, a porsche dealership.. I don’t want to point out the irony here, but somehow i am compelled to do so..
Same thing goes for Starscream (an F-22..??), he was always an F-15 from memory.. That goes double for Megatron, he was always a gun, admittedly he had to “mass shift” into something that small, but everyone remembers him as the menacing gun that could tear autobots apart.. The only time that i know off that Megatron was anything other then a gun was in machine wars where he was a plane.. But if Michael Bay went down the whole Beast Wars / Armada / Energon / Cybertron universes..?? My question is simple… where do the Witwicky’s (Sam Witwicky and mikaihla were just made up names with an original G1 characters surname to make the transformers feel somewhat “unchanged”) fit into the Spin-offs, other then G1..?? Because i don’t recall Spike, Sparkplug, Daniel, Karly being in Beast Wars / Armada / Energon / Cybertron universe etc… If that is the case and Michael Bay was “trying” to merge all the universes together, then what was he thinking..?? So why wasn’t Jazz a cheeter..??
I am so looking forward with displeasure to the pre-equels and the countless sequels that Bay wants to do in order to cash in on the brand name.. I wonder how much Nokia paid him in royalties to have their products used in the movie..?? I wonder how much Mountain Dew paid him in royalties to have their fizzy drink vending machines used in the movie..?? We all know the deal Bay had with GMC, so i don’t want to go there..

Since the movie was messed up form the outset, why not just take a page from ID4 and just plant a virus in megatron to take the decepticons down..?? I mean fair enough, in the final battle racthet and ironhide weakened blackout (from memory) but for soldiers to just shoot three rockets up his ass, and he went down (or was that bumblebee that weakened him…) either way conventional military weapons would not have taken something like that down, not with such ease anyway.. When the soldiers were in the desert, one of the soldiers (tyrese gibson from memory) said it himself that it (blackout) had some sort of invisible shield, then how is it possible for conventional military weapons to penetrate a forcefield.. If sidewinder missiles couldn’t penetrate the forcefield in “Independence day”, then how in gods name can rockets and machine guns do what sidewinders couldn’t in the movie mentioned..??
If it is so easy to take down a decepticon and indeed any transformers why couldn’t they just plug Megatron into a USB 2.0 port and upload a cookie virus or something..?? I know that it does sound stupid, and rightly so, but if a rocket can hurt a robot of that size, why not use other methods..?? Yes, i am aware that it’s a movie afterall, but at least make it believable..

On the topic of viruses and hacking the planet etc… In the course of the movie (and i can’t recall who said it and which part of the movie… it may have been in the base when blackout was ripping it to shreads) where they had to cut connections to the mainframe as it was getting hacked, because the decepticons will get all their strategic and tactical plans etc… Huh..?? Now my question to you is this, Why in gods name would you have all your military tactical and strategic information on a computer let alone a mainframe to begin with..?? It just doesn’t make sense.. Doesn’t tactics and military strategic knowledge come with experience and extensive years in the military..?? I never knew you needed a computer or a super computer totell you how to invade a country or prepare for war against alien or organic lifeforms..??

The look of the transformers was one of the plethora of reasons why i hated the movie.. The movie sucked because it was done badly, it was done by someone who has never seen an episode of the transformers in his life, that an the fact that Michael Bay and Speilberg should never have been behind the production / directing wheel to begin with, because they inferior and nothing more then one hit wonders.. I don’t want to point out all the mistakes of the movie, as it’ll take up all the memory and space on this site.. But the plethora of product placements would be one of the dead give aways..
However, I did for all it’s worth like the skeletel designs of the transformers, it’s a pity they messed up the rest.. They had (if memory serves me correctly) $173million dollars at their disposal to make the movie, so your gonna honestly tell me or write to me (whatever’s easier) that they couldn’t fit in that huge budget of theirs… making the transformers ‘transform’ into their original states..?? That’s the main issue i have with the movie, that and the fact that they chose hugo weaving instead of frank welker to be the voice of megatron, what a direct slap in the face that was..!
Well ok then nick, here is a perfect example of why the movie sucked and how they messed up the transformers.. If your such a big TF fan then you’d know that bonecrusher was a bulldozer in the cartoon series not something that resembles a garbage truck.. Secondly, bonecrusher was also one part of the constructicons that ironically joined to form ‘devestator’, which in the movie was a tank.. You sure you want me to keep on going…?? Yes it is a only a movie jomama, and yes they are not real and that the original G1 cartoon was not real either.. But if i was a movie director and used my imagination (something that Hollywood producers / directors should seriously look into), the transformers would have had their orignal transformation forms(alas Optimus as a cab-over, Jazz as a porsche, Ironhide as a Red Nissan Venetta, Bumblebee as a VW Beetle and Megatron as a pistol… and yes i’m aware of the ‘mass shifting’ debate which still rages on, on this site), however, i’d use the exo-skeletal designs that Bay used in this movie, because they were kinda cool and the organic feel to them was a nice touch.. And if it was for fun, then why not leave them the way they were in G1..??

On the topic of batman, I didn’t complain about batman’s suit going from the gay looking purple thing he was wearing in the TV series to all out black because a) i didn’t think much of batman to be honest as most of them sucked, with the exception of the two movies with Micheal Keaton and the Dark Knight and b) having batman wear a black suite made perfect sense.. I mean have you seen a purple bat flying around..?? And it would have defeated the purpose of calling him the ‘dark knight’… now wouldn’t it..?? Would you go to watch ‘the purple knight’..??

Ok then, if your such a fan of realism and logic (other then the fact that you’ll be waiting a while for that to ever happen), then whats the difference in having bumblebee being a VW bug rather then a camaro..?? I have always said in my posts that I liked what I saw in terms of the exo-skeletel designs, I have also said that why not just pimp up bumblebee and the other autobots (ratchet and ironhide, most notably)..
I’ve seen the new VW bugs all decked out and pimped up to the max, and they looked nothing short of awesome, so I don’t see any problem there (and I’m not talking about the original Bugs, because quite frankly they were and still are an eyesore, at least the new bugs look shit loads better).. Jazz could have been a porsche minus the ugly racing striped, what…. none of the new porsche’ fit the mould of jazz..?? As for ‘red’ being a nightmare to photograph, you’ll get no argument from me on that one, but what about having cherry red, blood red or some other darker red to compensate for that..?? Rather then adding extra ‘unnecessary’ colours to Optimus Prime for it to work..
Calling Speilberg a “one hit wonder” was a bit hasty of me (so you got me on that one) but i’m just sore at the fact that Transformers could have and should have been “more then meets the eye”(no pun intended) that and the fact that Speilberg could have and should have been more involved with it and overseen what was being done to it.. Honestly, Speilberg should have been in charge of making the movie NOT an inferior hack like Michael Bay, because we all know that along with James Camaeron and Ridley Scott (and there are other notable directors), Speilberg is right up there with the best of them in the Sci-Fi genre..
I think that the Frank Welker debate will ‘rage’ on for a while, if Peter Cullen got the call up to reprise the role of OP wouldn’t it make perfect sense to get Frank Welker to reprise the role of Megatron..?? Don’t get me wrong the aussie actor Hugo Weaving did a pretty decent job of being the voice over for megatron, but it’s just not megatron without Frank, much like OP not being OP without Peter..

I’m just hoping that they’ll get the atmosphere, the whole robotic feel, the artificial intelligence, the technology, something that a little kid would dream up, i would love for them to come up with something like that.. I would even go as far making it look more bladerunner-ish, but more chaotic..
What i reckon Michael Bay should do, is have a competition on which little kid from across the globe can come up with the best cybertron idea.. Because im sure there is a kid out there who has read all the “choose your own adventure” books, who is into sci-fi novels, who likes space and astronomy in general… i’ll guarantee that they’ll come up with an idea 1000x better then anything that Bay, Orci and co. can come up with.. I never refused to watch it, i knew it was gonna suck anyway with what i read and heard prior to the release… but it’s the transformers, it had to be done (watch the movie, that is…) and the fact that it cost me $15 bucks for admission, i wasn’t gonna walk out half way through the movie, even though it was tempting, but Megan Fox made me stay..
And prime busting his head open and eyeball popping out… that was bonecrusher, not barricade, that got his ass handed to him under the bridge..
Brawl wasn’t in the film… they changed the name to ‘devestator’ at the last minute.. But that was bullshit, because ‘devestator’ was made up of 6 constructacons, so why did they change devestator into an ambrams tank..?? That is what i don’t understand, that and the political bullshit surrounding the ’so-called’ breach of contract with porsche and volkswagon stating that Bay can’t use a beetle and a porsche, yet what do we see at the beginning of the film… a beetle at a car yard and a porsche dealership.. Talk about double standards..
But what’s done is done, all we can hope for is that the second movie is slightly better and less confusion and bullshit from an inferior and inept film director / producer..
Why would it kill the movie if for example the constructacons rolled up and turned into devestator..?? That’ll be kinda cool, if they were done properly.. Unfortunately they messed up the whole idea, because devestator was made a tank, so that defeats the purpose.. Now, you made some good points (regardless of the fact that they are recycled ones) on the relevance of the autobots coming to the rescue of humans and earth in general when a handful of soldiers can take down a decepticon with inferior weapons.. On the point of whoopin’ some ass, none of the autobots did any good in any of the battles, Optimus dropping megatron was sheer luck… because you gotta admit Optimus, much like jazz was megatrons bitch, except that optimus survived to fight another day..
I do agree with you that the effects were pretty cool, the editing as you said it was shotty and piss poor in some parts of the movie.. The look of the transformers were how shall i put it… ‘interesting’, it wasn’t spectacular nor innovative, it was new and up with the times ‘IF’ it came from a new generation transformer fans point of view, but if it were coming from the wider TF fan base would probably say otherwise.. As a parting note you mentioned “why would a super advanced space robot want to be an old f-15 instead of an F-22..??” My question to you is “why would an advanced super robot want to be an F-22 rather then an old F-15..??”
the boombox was frenzy (i think..) However, word is going around that soundwave will make his debute in the next film, but as an ipod.. However, don’t take my word for it, as it’s only rumour… but the rumours and pictures on the internet and youtube surrounding the look of optimus, jazz and co. from the first film were spot on, so soundwave being an ipod could be true.. If they bring in soundwave, surely they should bring in ‘BLASTER’ as well, just to even it out..??
I understand the ‘era’ debate, and you get no argument from me on that one, yes, back in the 80’s the beetle was a popular little car.. However, bumblebee was and will always be remembered as a beetle not a camaro, so why change everything all of a sudden..?? Paramount pictures have made more then enough money from their movies over the years to fund the ‘transformers’ movie with the $173 million they put aside, so why get financial assistants from GM..?? I mean fair enough paramount can cut a deal with GM to use their cars in the movie and others through other uses, but for example IRONHIDE was always a red nissan venetta, so why change him into a GM SUV..?? Same with Jazz, Rachet, and Optimus…..?? Starscream was a jet that resembled an SU-37 Russian fighter, and the f-22 Raptor is a perfect substitute, but what about the Mig 29-Fulcrum..?? That looked just as menacing as the Raptor..
You also mentioned in your post that in order for bumblebee to impress the human(SAM), he takes the form of a brand new state of the art model… What brand new state of the art model..?? I haven’t seen a new state of the art Beetle yet.. You also mentioned that if the movie kept with the original plot and concept from the cartoon, then the storyline would be seen as hard to believe.. The whole idea of cars, tanks, planes, boats, ships transforming into huge robots is hard to believe, so i don’t see the difference in keeping with the original concept and storyline..

I never started the debate on starscream and what variant of fighter plane he was (alas the SU-37), nor did anyone else for that matter, it’s simply a matter of opinion… something which don’t seem to comprehend nor understand for that matter since were on the subject.. Anyway, getting to the F-15 issue, yes, i am well aware of the fact that starscream was modelled around an F-15 fighter jet, and i’ll take a stab in the dark to assume that everyone else on this forum knows that also.. However Someguy, if you were literate enough to read past posts, you’d realise that the debate (to an extent) was about what todays fighter jet is more menacing… and the F-22 and the Mig-29 fulcrum where just names that were thrown in purely for the fact that they are menacing looking.. I’m guessing that even you would agree with these comments..??
And on the topic of Megatron and how he should have been a howitzer and so forth brings back the “mass shifting” debate.. Which has come and gone (debate wise that is) on this forum..
The harsh criticism given to the first movie was justified and well deserved.. Now, i am a huge fan of the old gen 1 cartoon… but i would love to have seen bumblebee as a ‘new’ VW bug, ironhide as a red nissen venentta, because that’s what fans know them as being (instead of this GMC bullshit)
And on the topic of ‘eyesores’… so your saying that a porsche is an eyesore..?? That a cab-over truck is an eyesore..?? Yet there are so many of them on the roads… The only thing i agree with you is the editing… it was kinda poxy, not very professional
Here’s an example of why the movie got such critism from the ‘die hard’ fans… The main problem with the film (other then the obvious) is that it doesn’t follow a single one of its plot threads through. The main one being, with the clue burned into the old glasses… it never pans out because both the cube and Megatron are already pretty safely stowed away at a government facility anyway.. So what was the point of that..??

How could anyone think this movie was good… Any true Transformers fan would agree that this was a complete let down, to no surprise with Micheal Bay… Yeah the special effects were awesome, and the organic designs were pretty cool too, I’ll give it that… But the plot, the characters, the cliche’d BS littered throughout the entire movie were just that, BS…!! Micheal Bay, if you read this (or in the process of reading this), please stop making movies it’s embarrassing, or at least learn how to make a movie without all the same OVER-dramatized BS that is evident in every other movie you make.. The editing was so great in the movie that it was a complete blurr, I didn’t know whats what, or who’s who… Is that what you get for $150 million these days..??

At least have Optimus hold him down or something… The only thing that stopped him in his tracks were a couple of jets flying over the city..?? What do we need the Autobots for then..?? Why didn’t we just shoot them down with our jets to begin with..?? Well, the real answer to these questions lies with Micheal Bay… There’s enough holes in the plot that a Boeing 747 could fly through, I mean… I could sit in front of my LCD screen and point out at least 20 to 30 mistakes(plus the rest) he made with this movie… But instead, I would have tried to get someone like James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Jerry Brukheimer, or even Peter Jackson… At least they know how to make good sci-fi/action movies, but tastefully and more realistic………!
The one thing this movie did have is special effects. The transforming of these machines were (to an extent) nicely done… And Spielberg, your way too good of a director (even though you haven’t shown that as of late) to think Micheal Bay is good too. The next movie you produce, get a freakin’ director with some talent and creativity…!

The lord of the rings trilogy was a bad example when comparing it to transformers, however, im a huge fan of LOTR… and Peter Jackson done an awesome job, even though they could have been longer, but then again who in their right mind would site in a theatre and watch a 10hour movie..??
Now the red, green, and black racing stripes on Jazz in the cartoon did look poxy and where eyesores themselves… but what about the 911 carrera or the 911 GT series of porsches’, they couldn’t use one of those to model Jazz..?? How is a 911 carrera or a GT a ‘blast from the past’ (minus the racing stripes)..?? Fair enough the cost is the key factor, but its not like movie studios can’t efford it.. What about ratchet… paramount pictures couldn’t model ratchet around a new age ambulance..?? Im sure they could have found an amulance somewhere in the US, regardless of the fact that most of them are made by GMC.. Instead of modelling ratchet around something that resembles a Hummer.. And as for ironhide, what about a nissen Quest..?? Sure its no vennetta, but it’s a minivan, its a recent model, and ironhide was a red minivan in the cartoon, so what is the problem..?? Paramount pictures could have compromised somewhere along the lines of what makes and models are to be used in the movie, but stay with the manufacturers (ie: ironhide, a nissan… jazz, a porsche….), they could have just cut a deal with GMC, used their cars and influences somewhere else in the movie, yet stay with the original manufacturers that the cartoon characters were based on..
And as for Optimus, to an extent he was still the same character, afterall, he was still a truck… But i still don’t get how a cab-over is an ‘eyesore’ and a ‘blast from the past’..?? When you see them everywhere, i would agree with you on those comments if a cab-over was decommissioned etc… but there not and they are still being used.. So why ‘change or fix something… when clearly it is not broken’..?? And as for Michael Bay, no comment……..! Everything was said in previous posts..
What about the ‘A-Team’ van..?? That represented toughness, durability, and the ability to withstand a hell of a lot of damage… and with ironhides persona in the cartoon, modelling him around the ‘A-Team’ kinda makes perfect sense.. Obviously, its a blast from the past’ and yes its old, outdated and so on……. but it could have fit the mould quite well with ironhide.. They could also have easily used minivans from Jeep or Dodge… like the jeep commander, the jeep liberty, the dodge magnum (with the red crystal pearl colour scheme) or even the dodge nitro (with the red crystal pearl colour scheme) all they had to do to counter the ‘lameness’ tag of a minivan is to pimp them up (im not saying have LCD screens on the hood / bonnet or micro LCD screens on the roof rack), just give them a makeover so that they appeal to the masses..
As for ratchet, why not have a humvee style ambulance (with a similar colour scheme to that of his cartoon counterpart) rather then a humvee style response vehicle used for call outs when a storm hits or something..?? You can keep on posting your pointless and baseless dribble, and you can call me old fashioned, but at the end of the day im gonna re-itterate my point ‘Why change / fix something… when clearly it aint broken..??’ If Michael Bay / Speilberg / paramount knew what the whole TF universe was all about, the movie would worked out… but because there were inferior directors, producers and movie studios in charge, the end result was a load of crap.. I have said this in a previous post that they had everything in front of them, the story, the history, the characters, their persona’s, everything…… all they had to do is make it into a live action movie, that’s all.. Here’s another question for you… How can you modernise something that has never been done before..?? (with reference to the transformers debate) I mean as I’ve said previously transformers has never been made into a live action flick, so how can you and everyone else argue that boxy characters can’t work even by todays standards and technology..?? I mean have you seen it done..?? Have you seen with your own two eyes that boxy characters physically can’t work..?? Have boxy characters been tried, tested and proven, to finally put this debate to rest that it just can’t be done..?? Somehow I don’t think so.. What is this incessant harping on and on about Arcee’s bio? It was never an argument! I don’t care one way or the other, yet we keep talking about it. This kind of stuff happens with non-issues all the time, and they’re only made into problems because people hash and re-hash the same tired material. Jesus Christ, just fucking drop it already.
Red did work as a design for the robots who were shot almost entirely in CGI for their scenes. Think about it: Demolishor (hydraulic crane) didn’t even move around as a vehicle, he was entirely CGI-robot, hence nothing to “photograph.” The same goes for Rampage, who I personally felt wasn’t pure red, but regardless, the same applies. He was in one scene where the bulldozer actually moved. The rest was in CGI-robot. No need to photograph anything red, since it doesn’t exist. However, Prime was constantly driving around, thus the need to blend the colors.
Long Haul is “boxy”? Wow. I saw the movie twice, I looked at the designs online, and I’ve seen the toy, and he doesn’t look boxy at all. He has the same exoskeletal design as the rest of the robots, but perception is reality I suppose. And please, don’t compare a dump truck to, say the obviously “dated” mini-vans and Saabs of the mid-80’s, the difference is plain as day – older consumer vehicles are UGLY, and nobody gives a damn about a construction vehicle being stylish.
I love transformers. I’m also an adult, who isn’t about to let a movie or it’s criticism therein ruin my day. Having said that, plenty of Trekkies were pissed at Abrams for (what they claim) was a total ruination of the entire Trek mythos starting back with Kirk & Spock. I know because I’ve had discussions with some of those morons, who can’t get passed the fact that the old series and movies STILL EXIST in DVD format; they seem to think Abrams is going to send the nerd Gestapo to round all that merchandise up to erase history. Further, it’s a bit harder to make things “modern” when the story is already set hundreds of years in the future, where the vehicles and costumes don’t even exist. Here you go handing out grades for argument Rewind, and you’ve already used two of the worst examples I’ve ever seen or read.
