I've loved Transformers since I was a kid although I lost that love as I got older. When I heard about the live action movie it brought it all back. I love the animated shows, the toys and can't wait for the movie. Everything I've seen of the movie so far gets me tremendously excited.

maybe that is why war of “the worlds” didn’t follow the Book??
I love speilberg but serioulsy someone please tell him to get off what he is on.
His last effort seem to have upset a fair few War of the worlds fans who religioulsy use the book as reference.
With soo many remakes
Maybe we can have one of CHEECH and CHONG, but we actually have steve and micheal instead.

I thought this was www.transformersfans.com??? What’s with the ‘War of the worlds’ references.. Since you brought up ‘War of the Worlds’, what was speilberg thinking?? H.G Wells would be crying right about now seeing his book adpated so badly.. If speilberg wanted to remake ‘war of the worlds’ at least cast a proper actor, NOT Tom Cruise.. I mean, for the love of god, Tom Cruise?? What, is he the only actor in hollywood with box office muscle??
Ahhh, i get it, i think i know why speilberg casted Tom Cruise in ‘War of the Worlds’… it’s because Tom Cruise needed money for a bigger couch to jump on prophessing his love to katie Holmes.. And what’s with the Drew Barrymore rip off (dakota fanning)..?? I mean she is a great actor, but i can’t recall the original ‘War of the Worlds’ having a side story about a father trying to get his kids to safety..
That is why movies should not be re-made, because of such movies as ‘War of the Worlds’ and ‘King Kong’.. I mean seriously, how many times can you watch a 50 foot gorilla climb up the empire state building, swat some planes and then fall to his death.. The movie ‘King Kong’ has been made 3 times since the original way back in the 1930’s.. Why not make it in chicago, so king kong climbs up cears tower and when he falls, he makes a bigger splat..?? Wouldn’t that be a great remake, minus the 2 extra hours of bullsh!t.
If hollywood were smart, they would continue from where ‘king kong lives’ left off.. But if hollywood are really stuck for remakes, why not make a remake of ‘baby - secret of the lost legend’..?? Anyway, im finished with my rant, as ive gone away from the topic of transformers for some reason.. So im going now..
ha ha, War of the Worlds was kind of boring. As much as I love Peter Jacksons work, King Kong sucked. It was pretty but fairly boring to me.
It isn’t so much HATE rather, I thought speilberg has a soft spot for the classics.
Clearly re-inventing a “working” wheel does seem to fall below whatever expectations I have had in the past of his exceptional work.
I loved close encounters of the third kind, E.T., JAWS, Batteries not included. (which the designs look related to the new movie )
but man WAR OF THE WORLDS really ruined it for me.

I though stevie would capture the book as it is meant to be.
As with this new enterpise at least we got the true voice of prime, but I wish there was more..Much more.
Okay the trailers may not show all, nor it may be a testament to the final product ,but it almost seems “NOT of” but for the likes of a familiar voice and names.
I am a little shaky on the direction taken and the new viewppoint as if we see them through the eyes of another human. I would have thought the angle
of looking though “their eyes”(autobots/decepticons) would have been more complete. what they think,feel, learn from, etc.
As with using Hugo weaving. He is a good actor nontheless but I am not sure the direction they are taking megatron into would fit megatrons the character’s essence.
Megatron is EVIL but he has that certain “charisma” that comes with a great action hero/Villain.
I Hope HE DOES have GREAT one liners in ths movie since G1 MEGATRON was the KING of one liners ,sarcasm and irony in the G1 series.
No other series that I have watched had as much cool serious wit as Frank welker portrayed. Okay some from beast wars and energon were funny but
that serious cool sadistic wit was not as there?
How many of us had a dark side that wished we could be just as witty?

I hope Frank welker DOes make it it at least the series since he is also the voice of soundwave and many of te autobots and decepticons.

to me, as an entertaining action movie, i can give this movie 4 stars.

Before i go into details about everything that was wrong with the movie, i just wanna say to you oBor… I feel your pain.. It’s a pity i live in australia, otherwise i’d kill michael bay myself..
I’m taking back everything positive that ive said about michael bay and steven speilberg.. They are nothing more then ‘paper’ fans and indeed ‘paper’ producers/directors.. They have never seen an episode of the transformers otherwise they would not have got it so f**king wrong..!! I mean were are the rest of the transformers?? Wheeljack, mirage, hound, thundercracker, soundwave etc…?? With the millions of dollars spent on this movie the best they could do is 10 transformers?? 10 god damn transformers, for someone like me that had to endure 2hrs and 20mins of torture, they could have at least put in more transformers to get my monies worth, regardless of how f**ked up they would have looked.. What a load of sh!t this movie was.. All of bays movies are nothing but flops..!! The reason why his movies broke box office records is not because of his directing ability nor script, but because of the big name actors that played the roles.. Because Bay is nothing but a fraud.. He’s more fake then a breast implant.. For example….
Bad boys 1 & 2…: If it weren’t for will smith, martin lawrence and tia leone, that movie would have sucked.. Yeah, it had big explosions, but you gotta understand that big explosions don’t make up a movie.. Both movies were identical, same story, same everything, except for more explosions
Armageddon….: If it weren’t for bruce willis, billy bob thorton, liv tyler, owen wilson, ben affleck… this movie would have been so unoriginal and unrealistic that id rather see a meteor hit earth.. Oh, lets just take an advanced spaceship and land on a meteor headed for earth..?? Lets just take a ‘moon patrol’ vehicle rip off and take it for a joy ride.. What a load of sh!t..
The island….: This is just an excusable lack of judgement on bays behalf, because i think that the drugs were wearing off and he couldn’t think straight.. This movie sucked full stop, despite scarlette johannsen and ewan mcgregor trying so desperatly to make this movie look good.. And what’s with those white tops at the end of the movie, they looked nothing then tick tacks trying to find that empty container where they came from..
Now lets get down to business with regards to this movie.. The only good thing coming from this movie is that babe megan fox.. Rumble?? That’s if that was indeed rumble that was hacking the mainframe on air force one, you are sh!ting me!! When was rumble a radio?? He looked like number 5 (short circuit fame)on crack, because even when he transformed to his robot form, he had no parts on him that looked like a boom box.. Frenzy, was a cassette as far as i know, so why is he part of a god damn car..?? And what the f**k is an ‘all spark’..?? The energon cube is meant to be a light pinkish coloured cube full of energy, not something resembling a god damn rubics cube.. Also that thing in the desert, was that meant to be one of the insecticons (to be more precise… scorpnok)..?? Because that looked nothing like an insecticon, it looked more like something my little brother built from his meccano set he got for christmas.. Devestator (the tank), correct me if im wrong. but wasn’t he made up of 6 contructacons?? So where are they?? Did they disintigrate when their meteor hit the earth or what?? Or did they get left behind on cybertron to get devoured by unicron??
There are talks about soundwave making an appearance in future sequels.. But bays adaptation of frenzy and rumble just f**ked that idea up.. Bay can’t just back paddle and change frenzy and rumble to resemble casettes, because that would bring me to the point, why couldn’t Bay make rumble and frenzy casettes to begin with..?? And the transformers themselves, despite their size, could bay have made them anymore lighter?? I thought they were meant to be heavier?? Not to mention, how f**king weak are they.. I would love to see a gobot or a mighty machine man taking them on, they’d have a field day with the transformers.. For something that size and for something that had that much metal, titanium and other alien material, they fell down so easily as with the battle between megatron and optimus prime towards the end of the movie.. That was a big disappointment, because obviously Bay never went to school, otherwise he would have known something about science and physics etc…!
The transformers faces…?? One of the soldiers or generals at the start of the movie summned it up quite well, they look japanese, and i agree with that comment.. Because when did transformer faces resemble something from the manga ‘guyver’ or ‘gundam’..?? Bay used all this CG technology at his disposal and the best he could do is rip off japanese manga, because he had no clue on what a real transformer looked like.. And what the hell is up with the lips, jeezus, bay just made the transformers gay.. I mean i liked the whole facial movements, but lips?? Bay can say all he wants to the media, CNN, NBC, entertainment tonight etc… that he has think skin (regarding all the death threats he got), but the bottom line is this, he is nothing more then a ‘paper’ fan who has no clues about the transformers universe and indeed directing.. He is a fraud, and shouldn’t be allowed to direct.. I mean intergalactic robots who are superior to anything on earth, had ebay and internet as their only means of obtaining information and intelligence.. Im gonna watch the movie a second time, just so i can laugh at it again..
In terms of value for money.. 2/10
In terms of eye candy.. 10/10 (refering to megan fox… what a babe)
In terms of action.. 5/10 (and im being awfully generous here)

don’t forget bay made the trasformers “WEAK” I mean all it took was a puny human to slide under neath one and put a decepticon(i refuse to mention that character’s name) out of it’s misery.Like I said in teh previous post if a soldier can off a decepticon all by himself,, then what do we need autobots for???
as with the transformers “coosing” their trasnformations.. then the most logical thing would be for optimus to become is a jet cuz itw oudl be an even match ..logical?? that choice the transformers have really screws up the distiction between “auto”bot and decepticon> I honetsly thought that the autobots are limited in this case to wheeled vehicles more often than not compared to their technically advanced rivals the decepticons..
also what bay says contradicts to what he said in empire maagzine and in other publications. he mentions there should be no mass shifting (eg. in g1 megatron becomes a small gun) and yet lord and behold what the heck DOES the (I hate saying this cuz it is soo wrong)ENERGON CUBE DO?? A MASSIVE CUBE
that cannot be lifted by all the trasnformers in the movie ocmbined???

I bought a copy of empire magazine with the review of the movie just for the comedy value..
any real G1 fan could find more than one answer to nullify any reason he gives for why his reasoning of “realistic” is flawed.
I mean if you get a kenworth or better yet a freightliner cab over you can still get the nearly 30 foot height hasn’t he ever bought any armada toys or the masterpiece mp-01 toys of optimus prime???
besides wht the heck make the autobot’s 30 foot I thought being a “FAN” he woudl realise that even though the autobots are smaller and weaker on average compared to the decepticons, their compactness ins much more suited to an URBAN role..leaving the decepticons who are bigger on average at a disadvantage in confinded spaces.(now that is real balance life used in the movie)
I HOPE when it comes out on the 4th stateside,REAL fans would make themselves heard.

Thank you Mr Bay for ruining the thoughts of my childhood. What the hell did I just watch? I thought this movie was called “Transformers”, not “The Wacky Adventures of Sam Witwicky.” Although Bumblebee is one of my fav’s, how in the hell can he be in the movie more than Optimus Prime, Starscream, AND Megatron put together? Thats actually a whole other point in that Megatron and Starscream were only in the Movie for like 20 or 25 minutes in the end. One very popular(at least to me) autobot is now dead and never to return after saying one stubid ass line and being in the movie for about a grand total of 5 minutes. Also, I can’t believe Prime said “My Bad.” WTF!! Im soooo disappointed.
Im thinking the same thing.. The only reason why i didn’t walk out of the movie midway through the session, was becasue of megan fox.. “The Wacky Adventures of Sam Witwicky”..?? All i want to know is who the hell is Sam Witwicky anyway, Bay at least got the surename correct but everythiong else.. It’s a joke.. I mean where is karly, Spike and Sparkplug..?? Bumblebee is one of my fav’s also, but to make him the star of the show and out do Optimus… im still coming to terms with that.. Megatron and starscream as f**ked up and dimented as they looked, should have had way more screen time then a measly 20-25 minutes.. And what’s with Jazz dying so easily anyway..?? In G1, he never gave up without a fight, so why was he made to die so easily in this “interpretation”..?? And as for the “My Bad” scenario, seriously, what is up with that..??
I can’t wait for the sequels.. Im just dying to see who they f**k up next..

Wah Wah Wah… Stop with all the freakin’ whining. Grow up and embrace that the movie would’ve sucked if it had been exactly like the cartoon. I mean a radio that transformers into a giant freakin’ robot? Or even a gun. The cartoon was awesome, and I wouldnt have changed it for anything, but thats a kids show. They made it more sophisticated and realistic, and it was realistic. I was a little pissed that megatron died, yes, but starscream is still around I think, I dont remember him dying. Still, this movie was merely introducing the story to people who wouldnt get it. And all this talk about killing the director, Shut the hell up! Seriously, thats not funny or appropriate. Try to be adults! It’s not like someone went back in time and changed the past so that the cartoon is different. You still have that at least. So stop crying and go eat some tater tots or something.
P.S. We still have Beast Wars to look forward to as a possibility.

Did pontiac buy out porsche or something, which is why jazz is a silver pontiac rather then a white porsche..?? Frenzy, last time i checked (and i have the 80’s toy in front of me) he’s a black cassette, so why was he part of barracade’s bumper..?? Rumble, last time i checked (and once again i have the 80’s toy in front of me) he too was a cassette, so why is he trying to imitate soundwave and become a boom box who hacks computer systems..?? Have you seen the movie..?? Hasbro has the rights to the new line of tranaformers toys, they can’t even make them right.. Plastic, hmmmm..?? Last time i checked, the 80’s toys were made of metal… and didn’t break.. Takara don’t have the rights for the transformers brand, because of Michael Bays “interpretation” of the transformers, Hasbro just jumped on the band wagon and reep in the rewards, because afterall, it’s easy money.. Im sure everyone has heard of the transformers at one point in their lives, which is why Hasbro is cashing in, big time.. And changing the past to make the cartoon different, give it time…… If they changed the transformers to suite Michael Bay, Speilberg, Hasbro etc… Some big name Media company, like CNN, NBC, CBS etc… will buy the rights to the original G1 cartoon and f**k that up.. So it’s just a matter of time, so Dave keeps eye’s peeled to the TV screen.. Because down the track, the statements you made in your rant of a post will backfire..

Yet again, chill. You can let something so stupid and insignificant as a movie tear you too pieces if you want. And I don’t mean realistic as in a cartoon. Megatron turned into a frikin’ gun! Even when I was a kid I thought it was dumb because he was so big. And it seems really sad that you’re actually referrencing to your childhood toys. Please try to be an adult here because I dont like arguing with a child. Optimus Prime, Megatron, and a bunch of other transformers have changed there veihcles a bunch of times before in all the different cartoon versions. It’s not what they transform into that matters, just that they keep the same personality. Unfortunately they didnt get to expand upon many of their personalities much in the movie, but that’s because this was the first one and the purpose was introducing the story line. They’ll probably have more transformers and be able to expand upon them in the next movie (if they make one, which I hope they do). You can call me a paper fan and a traitor to transformers and blah blah blah blah. I’ll say it again. The cartoon was great for a cartoon, and the movie was great for a movie. The movie would’ve flopped horribly if they kept it exactly like the cartoon. But if you still dont like the movie, fine. You’re the minority. You can whine amoungst yourselves all you want about how the inner child in you has been killed, but it will get you absolutely NO WHERE. This is the last post I’m going to be making, because even though this has been kind of fun, I’ve got better things to then baby sit the short yellow bus rejects.

I’ve been saying this all along that Michael bay f**ked it up.. Now, judging by your post Dave, I’m starting to wonder whether or not your in fact a child, because your comebacks and pointless dribble are pretty childish.. I’m bitching about this because I’m a “TRUE” fan not some try hard “paper” fan such as yourself Dave.. Obviously, the truth hurt otherwise your post would not have been so “colourful”.. I hate how hollywood changes things (alas War of the Worlds etc…) to suit them and transformers is no exception.. I’m aware of all the “other” version of the transformers such as Energon, Cybertron, Beast Wars, 2010 etc… I’m also aware that they have changed states and transformations etc… but those series just like this years “interpretation” of the transformers is nothing more then a marketing ploy to cash in on a brand name..

All I’m gonna say is that Michael Bay is nothing more then a Mark Wahlberg of the movie making industry, like Mark Wahlberg who can’t act and sing if live depended on it, Michael Bay can’t direct a movie if life depended on it.. He is nothing more then a “paper” fan, a sham if you will.. All he is, is a shadow of Jerry Bruckheimer, and trying so desperately to separate himself from just being know as Jerry’s bitch, but he can’t, because he’s not good enough.. To put it into more “colourful” terms, he sucks..
The only reason why the transformers will do well in the box office is because of the “transformers” name, nothing more… “My bad” (excuse my Optimus Prime attempt at humor) i forgot Megan Fox, she’s the other reason why the movie will do well at the box office..!!

they are transformers, meaning if they study what we speak it means meaning they DO NOT USE ANY COLLOQUIAL like we use it bar wisecracks due to the entertaiment value.
when optimus says “my bad” now where in the series would he even say that, perhaps “sorry” or “I apologize” i mean we are dealing with one of the wisest autobots right?
that is one of the main building blocks of a character, the way they speak..
secondly, optimus mentions to megatron near the end of the movie “sorry brother”. I thought autobots and decepticons were different models made by the same makers.. one for war, the other for labor.
as with optimus co-ruling with megatron as suggested
really does distictly sever the old from the new and if not really is not what prime was in G1
the character if you read between the lines leads by necessity
and would not want to gain power.(much like ultra magnus but with mor confidence)
in fact all the majorty of autobots would bot harm humans no mattre hwo insignificant nevenb if prime is not present.

as with the live movie being what it is, REAL FANS DID NOT ask for an exact transfer.. rather a much better compromise closer to g1.. cant any guys who argue get that established???

The argument is KEEP the universe”conventions” as close to the original. as was lord of the rings.. this is not to say keep it the way it was exactly..just don’t screw with the set universe, until you have undertood it completely. adding to it is okay… but the movie how many things where
changed but it wound up making it more immature and hard to swallow that it already is??
they hsoudl have kept it from the view point of the bots themselves.
more imagination and appreciation woudl come from that viewpoint and much more potential.
as with the actors, they did their job well but having a slogan
“No sacrifice no victory” really makes it cheezy that kind of word would work in a martial arts flick (since the acting is really not needed)
but in this movie does it make it sound mature???

I’m not being immature, i’m simply going down a peg or two to Dave’s level of “maturity” (if you want to call it that) and show him how immature he really is.. What i don’t get is this, every Transformers forum i go to i get the same level of intelligent rants (alas replying to my posts)
They can’t seem to argue my points so they resort to some schoolyard “vocabulary” that one uses when they can’t get on the monkey bars and they start throwing a tantrum.. That’s what I’m constantly getting on these forums, and Dave is no exception..
Your post makes perfect sense Rewind, but I’ve been saying and arguing those exact same points from the moment i went on this forum and started posting.. Yet, till this day, I’m getting no intelligent replies, rather I’m getting these childish rants that seem to look like posts, but with nothing in them..
Quick question, and this is about the second Transformers movie. Is Devestator a possibilty? I realize that in the movie the tank bot is called Devestator, but the credits and some websites that I have looked at say that this bot is in fact Brawl. If memory serves, he(Brawl) was a constructicon I believe, but does this mean that perhaps Devestator is a possibility? As for Autobots, I would love to see Grimlock, but I dont think that this is a good idea bc it seems like that would get messed up in the sequel. Cliffjumper and Wheeljack would be treats for me also, but like I said, Im sure the second will be just as disappointing, but I just cant make myself not watch it. Has anyone heard about the plot for the second one? I’ve read that it will involve Starscream bringing Decepticons back to Earth from Cyberton, Megatron being revived by Scorponok, and more autobots. Im not gonna let myself get excited for the second like I did for the first, but Im still curious as to what the second will be about.
I think they are in the process of hiring writers to do the second movie right now. Hard to say what direction they’ll go!
okay swan spill the beans,we have all seen the movie (maybe wookie has seen it by now…”FREE” or “rented”) and know that by now the humans are going to play a big part in this movie..
Wheeljack, Cliffjumper would be great to see, same with mirage, hound, blaster, inferno, metroplex.. I would love to see omega supreme in all it’s glory…. But the way Michael Bay “interpreted” the first movie, it’ll ber nothing but disappointment across the board.. Like yourself Brandon, i too am not looking forward to it even though it’s coming out in 2009, but i can’t make myself not watch it either, after all it’s the transformers regardless of how shit it’ll be..
With the devestator debate, that wasn’t Brawl.. Brawl was part of the combaticons who made up bruticus.. Brawl was a tank and made up one of the arms.. So how could Michael Bay get it so wrong..?? Devastator was made up of 6 contructacons (or was it 5)
Read who the TANK was in the movie.. okay people say it is a typo but it still says “devastator”(the tank that didn’t look anything like a realistic m1 abrams.. it looked more like a made up toy.)
The tank (alas Brawl or Devestator..?? Who knows??) looked more like something from power rangers.. Just the way it moved, it looked.. It smells and feels so “galaxy force” power rangerish..
