10 Reasons why Optimus Prime shouldn’t have lips.

A leaked trailer shows great detail of Optimus Primes’ lips. The clip was immediately dismissed by Bay and Co. but it seems that it is real, just maybe not the finished product.
3) Optimus “lips” look bad and just piss me off. I can’t imagine it will bother the general public, but anyone who has an attachment to “prime” will have issue with this for sure. There is no reason to give him lips. He speaks a few times with the shield up and it totally works….anyway. That is my only MAJOR gripe with the film. (but I doubt it’s worse than “Cloudactus”)
People have whined about changing anything from the original and this is a perfect example of why they should. The lips move and operate the same as in the cartoon but in the live action it looks frickin’ dumb. I double checked several different Transformers cartoon universes and every one of them has lips.
While the lips aren’t distracting in the cartoons, they look very corny in the live action. Change ‘em up, do something, just don’t release with that exact set of lips. To avoid saying something that would get Don Imus fired, let me just say, the lips are rather large and I don’t like ‘em.

I've loved Transformers since I was a kid although I lost that love as I got older. When I heard about the live action movie it brought it all back. I love the animated shows, the toys and can't wait for the movie. Everything I've seen of the movie so far gets me tremendously excited.

I hope that pic is not real.. If that is true then Michael bay has made the transformers gay.. Why not just call the ‘autobots’ gaybots instead, if indeed optimus prime does have lips.. I mean Michael bay has already turned all the other transformers gay, half of them look nothing like the transformers that i knew when i was a kid.. When did Jazz become a pontiac..?? Correct me if im wrong, but wasn’t jazz a porsche?? I think the logical conclusion would be not to make the other two sequels, but to get optimus prime in all his gayness to kiss and make up with megatron on the decepticons and live happily ever after on cybertron..
I am shattered that a cult classic cartoon series can be butchered so badly by an inferior movie director like michael bay.. What was he thinking.. Same goes for steven speilberg, he should stick with the E.Ts and Close encounters, because despite his inexperience in movie making, those two movies were awesome.. They should have chosen someone like ridley scott, james cameron or even jerry bruckheimer to do this movie..

On this we agree. The lips look foolish. All the cartoons have lips, but these just don’t look right.

I dig Bruckheimer movies and think he would have done a good job but I dig some Bay movies as well.
Michael bay made some pretty good movies…. look at armageddon, bad boys etc.. great movies, but this time around Michael Bay is out of his depth and not upto par with the transformers universe.. My main argument is not the fact that they made a live action movie, not the fact that it took so long to make one, but why have all the transformers been changed..??
I can understand that its time for a change etc.. and make the transformers more modern, but why change something that has clearly worked for over two decades?? I can understand making slight changes to make them look meaner, more darker etc.. but changing everything??
Yeah, I like Bay movies and from the looks of the trailers, I’ll love Transformers too.

I don’t know why they changed everything and I don’t really care. Whether gorilla, Kenmore or truck with flames all I need is Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and i’m a happy camper.
I’m gonna see the movie purely on the basis that, well it’s the transformers.. I agree with you, as long as Peter Cullen is the voice of optimus prime at least Bay left some originality in this movie..
OH the faceplate IS OPTIMUS…
you know the olution they could have done to make it fit if you wanted mouths on other transformers could be like something out of terminator 2. the mouth parts are the only thing liquid metal.
like skin on the jaw but it sets to fit the rest of the head.
the excuse would be that the reason it is sorta liquid is like part of their systems are nano machines anyway(like their self repair systems)

Rewind - It sounds logical but I’m not sure I’d like the liquid metal. I don’t like the lips so far, so we’ll see what they do…

If Bay and Speilberg were interested in what REAL fans had to say, they’d listen.. Afterall, it’s the fans who would know how to make this film, not Bay, and certainly not Speilberg.. Bay and Speilberg are nothing more then ‘paper’ directors, that’s all.. They are only good at f**king up movies that need not be re-made.. All they care about is their cut of the profits and when payday is.. Bay and Speilberg are nothing more then ‘paper’ fans who have never seen an episode of transformers in their lives..
Bay is a competant director, but inferior in my point of view.. Speilberg, in my point of view shouldn’t even be called a director.. He’s only done 3 memorable movies in his career E.T, Saving private ryan, and Close encounters of the 3rd kind.. The only REAL movie directors that should be known as directors are Jerry bruckheimer, ridley scott, tim burton, james cameron, and the late stanley kubrick.. These directors would do a 10x better job then bay and speilberg put together.. The icing on the cake is the fact that these directors know how to utilise CG to the fullest potential… not this crap that Bay and speilberg produced.. Multi-million dollar computer systems, multi-million dollar CG hardware / software, and this is the best that they can come up with..
I don’t care what people say, if people are TRUE fans they’d know what im talking about and they’d know what im arguing about.. While ‘paper’ fans such as Darthchop etc.. all they are doing is trying to mind f**k people like me, in thinking that they know what they are talking about and that they are indeed FANS.. I guarantee you’ll be there seeing it at some point. Even though everything you’ve seen, you hate. I imagine you lack the courage of your convictions.
I really appreciate that you take the time to leave your opinions, but the personal attacks are irritating. You are not the ‘be all, end all’ Transformers fan. You don’t decide who is a good fan and who isn’t, so keep it civil. Share your opinions without your judgements of others level of dedication.

SOrry I MEAN liquid metal for mouth holes not fashioned like lips rather more
like the holes for mouths they have in the transformers.
I mean nano machines are a locigal choice for their self repairing mechanisms
and for other things onder and over their armor.
(the boxy things that cover their innards which LOGICALLY MOST SHOULD NOT REALLY BE as exposed in later sequels, )
I know the CG team want to really show off what they can ameke believable but after the first movie there is no need, just give the fans what they have been asking for, gift wrap it and bask in the glory of their praise,their loyalty and ultimately THIER MONEY!!!!
Like many fans I have been thinking about this long and hard of what the transformers would be in real life just in case a movie has come out.
I would be happy to put up ideas in a new post you start, with the rpomise that it goes to the proper (directors/producers)
In the end as a fan all I want is a great movie, no payment, just a great movie.(if lucky some mention of my name somewhere..)

Many a fan(sadly mostly casual fans) get the dazzled by hollywood special effects and empty promises to deliver.
The metion of famous producers/directors and artists has a nasty habit has clouding judgement. If it at all fails give the army of movie kiling critics only A PIECE of what they want to validate their….(fit any curse word here)
