I saw this originally at Seibertron.com.
As Reported by the Los Angeles Times, Screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci convened a round table of industry insiders to go over the script one final time.
When I asked one longtime studio development expert with no connection to the film about the round table’s import, he reacted with genuine surprise, saying of Kurtzman and Orci that it was a “good sign of their mental health.” He described it as a smart and innovative approach to this kind of material — a franchise film with a lot of money riding on it — that he hopes other writers and studios will embrace.
The extra focus either means that they are nervous about the script or they are really excited about it and want to make sure that it has every ounce of excellence than can be wrought.
Michael Bay kicked off the meeting and the creative process took over from there. This extra attention may really smooth out human/robot interaction in the movie. I hope it wasn’t just done to add unnecessary slapstick, but I have faith.
