Think you’re buying the 20th Anniversary DVD? Think again, your getting a $22 featurette preview of next summers Transformers movie.

Starting out with the announcement trailer it doesn’t take long for the trailer to hurtle into fast paced ‘making of’ action chock full of explosions, helicopters, car chases and bullets.

Spielberg takes a moment to talk about his excitement about a Transformers movie and seems quite genuine. Cut to Michael Bay saying how stoked he is and hasn’t been this excited since Armegeddon. He follows up by mentioning that making a believable and realistic movie that isn’t cartoony is very important.

Writers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman again reiterate the realistic nature and really got me excited when they mention 80 mile per hour vehicle to robot transformations. The feature ends with Spielberg telling us that this movie will “blow. you. away“.

It feels that the primary purpose of the feature is to reiterate and reinforce that the movie will be realistic. Not cartoony. By constantly revisiting this they hope to separate what has existed in the past and establish the personality of the live action movie.
