Transformers – 25th Anniversary Edition – The Complete First Season Review
Really, it’s what started most of us on this path. I was a kid and these robots that changed shapes fascinated me. They stole my imagination and I loved everything about them. With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen coming out soon, watching the complete first season was a great trip down memory lane.
Watching these again from the beginning made me remember why I loved these cartoons in the first place. The classic battle of good vs. evil, Optimus Prime (and his stupid trailer) and just the general cheesiness of it all.
The set has the entire G1 original series and some great extras. The Origins of the Transformers, a printable script (very cool!), a PSA from tv at that time, some old Hasbro commercials, etc. I haven’t even made it through all of it yet but I can’t wait to dig deeper.
Quality:
Wow. About a year ago I watched the original series again on sites like youtube, etc. The quality was ridiculously bad. Watching it again in this release made such a difference! It has a stereo soundtrack which makes a big difference, especially for the Tranformers sound! It looks pretty dang good considering it’s 25 year old animation. As good as you remember and very easy to watch quality wise.
Packaging:
The packaging looks great and when I unwrapped it I couldn’t have been happier! The Autobot logo (as big as a DVD) was a great surprise. The raised images of Optimus Prime and Megatron look great and everything else looks legitimately good. There is nothing cheap about this set.

Wrap it up:
With feature films coming out like G.I. Joe and a second Transformers movie, taking this walk down memory lane was a great diversion and an excellent way to get amped for the next batch of movies that take me back to my childhood! I recommend this set for our community here over the previous versions that were released (crap). I know our members here LOVE G1 and everything it was about, this DVD will not leave you wanting!

I heard about a month ago that the entire series was being re-mastered for DVD release, and all I remember was how much money I wasted buying those original DVDs (which were of pretty low quality). This is definitely good news
